Podiatry Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What is a Podiatrist?

Historically referred to as Chiropodists; Podiatrists are Medical Professionals who specialise in the treatment of foot, ankle and lower extremity conditions. They diagnose and manage various issues such as injuries and infections as well as deformities related to the foot and ankle.

At The Springfield Clinic, our Podiatrists pride themselves on taking care of our patients; not just their feet.

What will happen at my initial Podiatry appointment?

As Podiatrists are medical professionals, this initial appointment includes a full medical assessment of your feet, as well as assessment of the health/condition of your feet.

Initially our team will take some personal details for identification and information control purposes.

We will then record a full in depth medical history including medical conditions and medications in order to understand your background and use this to evaluate any medical impact this may have on your feet.

We then carry out a full assessment of your feet and ankles, including assessing the vascular status (blood supply), neurological status (nerve supply and sensation) and potentially assess the function of your feet including pressure plate analysis. This allows us to directly target and manage any complaints you may have with your feet effectively; while detailing both short and long term treatment plans based around you as our patient.

We as always then look to carry out any necessary treatments you may require.

How much does it cost?

Each person is different, therefore each persons' needs differ greatly.

Our appointment costs vary greatly and are based on individual needs; and prior to assessing those requirements it can be difficult to provide an accurate reflection of appointment costs.

However, if you would like more information on this or you have any questions you would like answered please do not hesitate to contact us.
